Alan R. Williams, DVM
Alan R. Williams received an Associate Degree in Science from Ricks College in 1968, a BS in Animal Science from Brigham Young University in 1970 and was accepted into the graduate school at the College of Animal Science at Brigham Young University. He was subsequently accepted the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University the following year where he received his D.V.M. in the spring of 1975. After graduation he accepted an associate position with Dr. Ray Bradbury, a long time mixed practice veterinarian in Mount Vernon, buying the practice the following year. The practice was then merged with the Skagit Animal Clinic in 1981 forming a 4 doctor practice. Dr. Williams left the Skagit Animal Clinic in 1991 and built the Parker Way Veterinary Clinic, a solo small animal practice, which he still owns and operates today. In 2004 in conjunction with other veterinarians in Skagit and Island Counties he was instrumental in organizing and managing the Pet Emergency Center LLC, now operating as the Skagit Island Veterinary Services LLC. Dr. Williams has served on the Board as Treasure since the inception.
Dr. Williams has been active in the community in the Noon Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon for 5 years, serving on the Board of the Bellingham/Skagit Hospice Association for two years and then on the Board of the newly organized Skagit/Island Hospice Association for another 2 years. He has served as Scout Master to troop 55 for 5 years and is active in his church, filling various assignments over the years.
Dr. Williams has been married to Phyllis for 38 years and they have 5 grown children and 10 grandchildren. Hobbies include gardening, fishing, reading and playing with the grandchildren.
Eric E. Anderson, DVM
Dr. Anderson loves cats and there has never been a year in his life that he was not surrounded by them. His educational background started with receiving a B.S. in Animal Science from Washington State University in 1971. In 1971 he was accepted into graduate school at the College of Animal Science at WSU. The following year he was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine. He earned his DVM at WSU in 1976. Dr. Anderson is the director and owner of Best Friend’s Veterinary Center, 33285 SR 20, Oak Harbor, WA. Best Friend’s is a busy, four doctor practice that has earned accreditation by American Animal Hospital Association for over 25 years.
In 2007 Dr. Anderson was selected by Washington State University’s, College of Veterinary Medicine to become an adjunct Professor of Veterinary Medicine to assist in training externs. He has been the Tri-County Veterinary Medical Association’s president and later state representative to the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association for 6 years. Dr. Anderson was the Charter President of the Rotary International Oak Harbor – Sunrise Club in 1995. Its motto is “Service above Self.” Dr. Anderson’s vision of a centrally located, northwestern Washington emergency hospital led him to organize the cooperatively owned Pet Emergency Center, LLC in Mt. Vernon in 2005.
Dr. Anderson is honored and privileged to be married to Mary Anderson. He has 2 grown children, Chris Anderson of Century 21 in Oak Harbor and a daughter Dr. Erica Syring who works with him. Dr. A has two grown step-children Jessica and Mike. He enjoys family, boating, dancing, and hiking.
131I treatment protocol have been established for years and Dr. Anderson greatly appreciates the further guidance he has received from other licensed providers of 131I therapy in New York, California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington State. In regards to radio nucleotide safety, Dr. Anderson was credentialed in radiation safety course work at the University of Washington in 2006. He is the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the Thyroid Treatment Center. He has also undergone direction and training under the watchful eye of a Certified Health Physicist and the Washington State Department of Health.
